STEM CELL EXTRACT OF LIVING STONE
The stem cell extract of the living stone stimulates the vitamin D synthesis of the epidermal cells in the skin. Vitamin D, on the other hand, plays a key role in skin renewal because it sends out the messenger substances that initiate cell division and cell specialisation to a wide range of functions.
The name “living stone” comes from the Greek “lithos” for stone, and “opsis” for appearance. In fact, this member of the fig-marigold family looks like a velvet-covered stone that is split into two differently sized leaves. This split acts like a window, allowing vital light to penetrate the plant. At the same time, the surface volume is so low that hardly any moisture can escape. After the South African rainy season, yellow or white flowers appear, signalling the end of the growth period before the old leaf pairs protectively envelop the newly-grown ones to serve as a water dispenser during the dry season.
